It's the Margarita's.. – Rio is all about the Margarita's, pure and simple! These marg's are not "Americanized" with sour mix like everywhere else you go. Just tequila, lime juice, and triple sec in a potent combo. The notion that other restaurants make margarita's like these is erroneous, because they don't! These marg's are meant to get you juiced, and as most people would testify, they do! Great "pre-party" hang out.
Festive fun place – Really delicious margaritas, and the food is great too. Service is good at the bar or in the restaurant, however beware that if you are sitting at one of the many bar tables near the window - the staff ignores you. (3 out of 3 times for me).
sogoodtomytoes – The Rio in Boulder is the best 10 bucks (including a tip) that you will spend on two margs to start you out with a terrific buzz and ensure a night of fuzzy silliness.
Drink Drink Drink – The only good thing about this restaurant is their margaritas. The food isn't that spectacular. Ambiance is okay and this place usually gets really packed on weekends.
Get there Early – Rio is much too crowded in the evening, but for an early happy hour it's a great place to meet. The appetizers are tasty, and the margs are great. Nothing is worth the crowds and the waits that this place attracts, and never plan to meet someone there on a busy night, but check it out in a slow time.
It's not QUANTITY...it's QUALITY! – There's a good reason why they cut you off at three margaritas...
for the dogs! – This place is horrible. Not only is it horridly loud and overly crowded but the service was terrible and the food was way overpriced for what you got. Everything we had was totally mediocre. Maybe a few steps above a chipotle wrap but not by much. they had piped pseudo-mexican/salsa music BLARING so loudly that you had to shout to be heard. The queso dip is gross, the server said it was a mixture of cheeses but I've had velveeta dip before and I didn't appreciate being lied to about it. The green chile was we... read more
The Worst – This place is horrible. Will never go back AGAIN!! The wait is way to long had to wait 2 hours for a table for 4, and then the food was awful. The margaritas were nothing special nothing you can't get anywhere else.
Rio Grande Restaurant – I always get great food and service at Rio and the margaritas definitely go down smooth.
