Terrible service, good salsa – The Rio has really gone down hill. Today, in for a late lunch, the server, while nice, brought out soup (appetizer) with the actual entrees. The Rio is notorious for bad timing. The green chili (which I ordered the regular kind, not the hot kind) that smothered the chicken enchiladas was so spicy it was inedible. Steady Decline – I been noticing for awhile that the margaritas have become much less potent while the prices continue to increase. The food is also getting worse - I ordered the special; pork quesidallias this week and was given super spicy chicken version. Someone else ordered the chille rellanos only to find them inedible due to the fact that the peppers were of the spiciest version imaginable - although no mention of that was included in the menu description. great customer service – we were seat with in a few minutes, on a saturday night, the temperture of the food was warm at best. the service was great and the management was great too. No ground beef. All steak or chicken.
Good start to a Friday night. – Stong margs get the job done. Very pleased with the Mahi mahi tacos. Crowded with 20's making the rounds, loud but it's LoDo on a Friday night.. what else would you expect.
Treat it like a bar – Make no mistakes, this is a bar with a full dining room. Take your business meetings here or tie one on after a rough day at court (right across the street) but come with the intent of drinking. Margaritas are reportedly spiked with Everclear, which explains the 2 Marg limit.
Margaritas, Sangrias, House Margarita, salted, surgar, iced, on the rocks. This place is where to go for margaritas. The food is average, getting better but you go to this place for the Margaritas. They have a 3 Margarita limit for a reason, the house is plesantly strong. I recently ate there and they had expanded their menu, their homemade Flan was quite good. Oh must warn you, don't order the sopopeias. Not worth it.
Average Mexican - Decent Margs – The Rio is hyped a little more than it is worth, still a good choice for a weekday lunch. Decent happy hour deals, service is inattentive and indifferent. Margaritas are okay, I've had better and worse - but they will sneak up on you, hence the 3 drink limit.
No, way Jose! – You'd think with something this busy and with the reviews I read before I went, at least the restaurant would rank up there in some category -- well, I'm trying to think, which one? It was a normal, crowded Friday night, and we had 8 people. Called ahead, no prob. Seated after everyone got there, no prob. That's where the fun ended. High prices for substandard food.
