Have permanent damage after a "routine reattachment surgery"
Dr Johnston Is amazing in every way. My eye suffered a complete retinal detachment. Emergency referred me to his practice. His staff made room In his schedule to diagnose that very afternoon---then after office hours that very day he performed surgery at Edina Fairview Hospital! I was completely blind in that eye And he saved my sight --he and his staff baby sat me thru months of recovery --they always assured me and told me the truth and what to expect next I see 20/25 today!-Joy
Dr. Johnston performed surgery on me for a detached retina. I found him very friendly and very informative. He gave me an honest, straight forward answer to any question which I appreciated. i feel he was honest and gave great information on what to expect during and after surgery. Dr. Johnston was very friendly, calling you by name and expressing genuine concern for your condition. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnston.
Although, he may be an excellent doctor, the wait times are horrendous. There have been days where I am in there (waiting room and exam room) for 3 hours. He WAY over-schedules and have frequently not even been able to find a chair in the waiting room. If I could find another doctor who specialized in macular degeneration, I would. I believe the service I am given is very poor.
Dr. Johnston saved my sight even though there were some serious complications when my retina detached and my eye hemorrhaged. He is a talented surgeon and always made time to answer all my questions. I liked that he was available by phone when needed and made special arrangements on a day off to see me. Dr. Johnston is busy but the extra waiting time was worth it. Highly recommend Dr. Johnston.
I would NOT recommend Dr. Johnston to anyone. We have had numerous appointments with him, and have decided to go elsewhere in the future. We usually have to wait two to three hours to finally see him to get test results, only to visit with him for about five minutes. He is short and abrupt, and always in a hurry. He is overbooked! We leave after being there for that length of time not knowing any more than we did when we arrived! He doesn't explain a thing!!
Every time I take my Father to an appointment it takes at least three hours because they completely over book. I'm here this very second repeatedly watching people in the waiting room approach the overwhelmed front desk and complaining about their wait. I have also watched several people fall asleep, its unbelievable. I'm sure the doctor does a fine job, but save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. Consider yourself warned.
