Excellent, skilled, friendly and brilliant. M
He is a great doctor, seriously I do mean he is a great doctor. Lets put it this way. When a doctor tells you. Girl what have I done to your eye. I had a Macular hole . Many surgeries many shots. I lost my eye sight, my eye is shrinking. Cannot keep pressure in it, lil tears. Lost my muscles in back of eye. My retina is total damaged. My pupil points to the right. My eye lid is closing cuz of the pressure. My eye will eventually shrink to a raisin. It has been 4 yrs. Yes I cry every day.
The wait times are ridiculous. Considering the elderly patients, this practice is managed very poorly. 45 minutes after the appointment time, we were called to the first technician.
I,too, may be the cause of making others wait. Dr. Johnston fit me in and showed compassion when having to tell me about the cancer tumor in my eye and taking time to talk about treatment. He was very professional and caring.
Very caring Dr. Long waits are normal due to his willingness to do emergency care. He is on call for hospital emergency too. Happened once to me. Not an issue.
If you have hours to blow, then go there and endure not only the long wait, but the absolutely most unprofessional, rude front staff you'll ever be exposed to. When I called to inquire if we should reschedule due to traffic from the snow, they said no. I should have known given the nasty tone in the woman's voice that it wasn't going to be pleasant. It would have been easier to reschedule and given the other reviews I've read, waiting and tolerating the staff is common. THIS PLACE SUCKS
As I was reading Dr Johnston's review I wanted to let people know that I am likely one of the reasons you are in the waiting room.... waiting.... and possibly waiting. I was directed to Dr Johnston for a torn macula. Despite it being late in the day, his office worked me in and stayed WELL after normal closing time to prepare me for surgery. I apologize to you who were bumped, but as a result I am able to see. He is clearly skilled and the fact that waits are long is a testament to his skills.
The clinic is outdated, dirty including lab coats of staff. His voice can be heard in all rooms as he keeps all the doors open. Always late. Noticed 3 obvious HIPAA violations. Uses outdated procedures.
It was clear from todays visit, that Dr. Johnston overbooks his appointments! Our appt. was scheduled for 2:45 and we left the office after 5pm. I was given 3 varying stories as to why: 1. the receptionist told me he had 5 emergencies that afternoon, 2. the assistant told me, no that wasn't true, he always overbooks his appts. despite them discouraging him to do that, so then patients have to wait long periods & 3. the Dr. said he just got behind and seemed to care less for our long wait!
Richard Johnston, MD has a 3.4 star rating with 28 reviews.
