He and his office are a disaster. He kept putting off my surgury due to my weight, 50lbs overweight. His office girl that checks you in is an absolute mess, she left me with no pants on and a paper cloth to cover then he comes in and asks why I do not have pants on. Upsurd!!! She does not know how to use the blood pressure machine correctly. I went to Dr. Medich and he did my surgury that same month with no need for a colostomy . He is afraid to do surgury. Go to dr. Medich he is the best.

Dr. Fortunato completed the surgery well (removed the mass), although I had complications from surgery that left me with an in home nurse and physical therapy due to neglect during surgery. He is obsessed with weight and is condescending and arrogant. If you are overweight and you wake up from surgery with a colostomy (which is a normal procedure of his even though he says “just in case”), he will NOT reverse your colostomy within a couple months and as promised. After six months of him refusing to reverse my colostomy, I go... read more

Advised my husband to have section of colon removed over a hemorrhoid with a polyp. We have 3 RN's in the family, all of them 'that sounds truly insane'...

I took my Aunt to him, as he was highly recommended from another doctor's office on prolapse procedures. His bedside manners leave much to be desired! I understand the age of my Aunt was a risk factor, but this is a procedure that impacts the elderly considerably. However, his delivery after going back in forth with him and his staff for several months was unbelievable.....back and forth and back and forth....finally he stated he was afraid to do surgery on her, she was too high risk. Thank God we found a more seasoned and e... read more

Dr. Fortunato treated me 6 years ago and provided me with a much better quality life. He was excellent, had great bedside manners, explained problems, procedures and recovery process really well. He listened to my concerns, provided clear instructions and never rushed me into any decisions. Also, followed up to be sure everything was healing nicely. I would recommend him and his practice to any one in need of a colorectal surgeon.

Dr. Fortunato is excellent in his work and a very caring surgeon. He operated on me for a fistula (ruptured intestine) and completely resolved my problem. He's also successfully removed several large polyps during colonoscopies with minimal discomfort. He always follows up to be sure everything is healing nicely. He always listens to my concerns and never rushes me.

Too quippy and rushed when visiting with my mother, father, and me after complicated bowel surgery on my mother. I understand he’s “the best” at colorectal surgery in the area, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a better bed-side manner and talk more slowly so your elderly mother can understand why she had such a horrific night 3 days post surgery. “Great! Your gut is working,” just doesn’t cut it. Explain and show empathy for the trials our whole family had just been through.
