Shill bidders Beware of this company, especially their internet sales through ebay. It appears that they are using shill bidders to artificially inflate auction prices. Watch the bidding action for several similar items and you will see the same bids from multiple accounts bidding the same amount at the same time. It appears they are using an automated system to routinely bid predetermined amounts. The same items that "sold" show up a few weeks later in a new "auction". The "bidders" have high feedback numbers, but they bid ... read more

??? Generally I have been satisfied with Reliable Tools, but honestly I too have thought they have been using shills if a price was not bid up high enough. I see that they have not been active on Ebay for several weeks, did Ebay finally catch up with them?

Expensive machine tools and reasonable tooling Reliable Tool is a decent place to go buy tooling, but not a very good place to buy machine tools. They sell a lot of stuff on eBay, and you can't just walk in and buy it; you have to bid on it using eBay. Because of this, their prices are probably fair market value, but because of this, you won't usually get a good deal on anything. Tooling is both new and used, some more used than others. Used tooling is by the pound, which is nice. If you're looking for something in particula... read more

Reliable Tool Review: Michael D is the psuedonym of their old Ebay sales manager. If you look around enough you can trace it back to "Steve" and "Angel". Let me tell you a little story: I purchased a Super Spacer from (un)Reliable on Ebay. What they sent me was junk condition- yes, true scrap condition chuck. The cost of the Super Spacer was $300. The cost for me to return it is $200. Reliable is a dangerous company in that they resell and flip what they get as bottom feeders from industrial auctions. They only place the low... read more

Reliable Tool is cheating its customers Reliable tools engages in behavior that cheats its customer through proxy bidding that artificially inflates the auction price on eBay. Pull up a few of their auctions and look for ebay buyers with low transaction counts that bids exclusively on Reliable Tools items. Too bad, the scheme is not too hard to figure out.

De-bugging a bum rapp I've been a Reliable Tool customer for many years, even before they went EBay. They go all over the country to buy from failed businesses and they do a heck of a job. Sometimes you score great finds, other times come up empty. The owner is a straight shooter and the staff have always been right on with me. I sometimes use a sniping device to have the last word in a bidding situation. I sometimes bid on similar lots. Maybe that's what you've run into. I have high praise for these guys.
