Oh, we love the Red Onion, fish dinner is wonderful, so is pork chop. They have good coffee too. I've never made it to dessert, but hear they are delicious. Staff are friendly and keep your drinks filled.

My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary dinner here. The food was excellent and the help was very nice. My husband ordered the pork chop and it was the thickest, best tasting pork chop that I've ever seen and I usually don't eat them! I also loved my side dishes of mashed potatoes and green beans and they had lots of other vegetable choices. We will go again!
We allways loved their prime rib. We couldn't wait for them to reopen, but this time was really bad. The prime rib was so fatty and it seamed both my husband and I had to fight with the meat to cut it. It was very chewy. The waitress had nothing to say after we told her of our disappointment. I'm not one to leave such a bad review as I always compliment the chefs, but when I pay $25.00 a piece for a cut of meat and get no response when my plate is full of fat and she sees me trying to cut it, I'm going to speak out...sorry R... read more
As an Equality native now living far from home, I can't wait to visit The Red Onion again. The ribs, steaks, chops, fish and burgers are all amazing. Plus be sure to save room for dessert. The Red Onion is an essential part of going home.
The Red Onion, formerly Leonard's, is the "Best Kept Secret" in Southern Illinois. Wonderful prime rib, steaks, fish, ribs, etc.
