DIRTY 10/17/2013 One word: Dirty This diner used to be really good until recently. My last 2 dining experiences were not enjoyable (to say the least) Had lunch there in August and spent the hour waving off flying bugs. October 16th had lunch and was given dirty utensils (twice) The second set appeared to have not been washed at all. With that, lost appetite and left (without paying bill as we did not eat what was ordered) Needless to say I will not be going back there [ever]. TERRIBLE In a word- TERRIBLE! Everything about this place was awful. First, the service was terrible. Not once did the waitress ask if we wanted refills on our drinks or ask if everything was ok. The food was really bad. We ordered nachos and asked if we could get them with real cheese and not Velveeta or processed cheese. Sure enough we were brought stale chips smothered in Velveeta. Red Oak Diner & Lounge is Back! The Red Oak Diner, Hazlet NJ is Back and even Better! For those of you not acquainted with Monmouth County NJ/Shore area, the Red Oak has been around for about 50 years (with one short change of name several years ago). Restaurant Theater This is supposed to be a diner - there's always a comedy show or something going on. I just want to eat. If I wanted a show or entertainment I'd go to a club or theater. The food was ok but a little pricy I thought. The service is typical diner "what can i get ya service". The restaurant is beautiful inside but I wasn't impressed for the prices we paid -
Great place The former Adelphi Diner is still a great place to eat, I go there sundays after church for breakfast all the time. They make fantastic pancakes and waffles for breakfast. lunch and dinner is pretty much like any other diner. The service is excellent.
Basic Diner The Red Oak Diner offers your basic menu of any average diner. It has average prices with decent food. It serves its purpose when you have a craving for diner food, but it is not over the top.
