As my PSA continued to rise during the past five years. I contacted Dr. Josh Randall. I gave him a list of my medications which included Finasteride, a drug that shrinks the prostate gland, but lowers the PSA level by 50%. He looked at my numbers, did a DRE, and told me I was fine; not to worry, to come back in six months. He had a "great bedside"manner; very friendly, but seemed cavalier about my condition.
The next PSA results rose a bit more so I went to see a different Urologist who insisted on a Prostate biopsy. It came back positive for an aggressive form of Prostate cancer. Luckily, I caught it in time, and immediately scheduled surgery. You would think a competent doctor would have thought about the Finasteride levels being doubled since it's easily explained on Internet medical sites.
Having found the cancer sooner would have been better. I am so grateful to have found another Urologist that has both great "bedside manner" and a higher degree of knowledge and competence. Continuing with Josh Randall may have cost me my life.
