My insurance requires a Pre-Authorization for masks, hoses and equipment- you know, the stuff you need 2-3 times a year... Kakar's staff would not write the Pre-Authorization for anything other than the doctor's visit, so my insurance is declining payment for my equipment. I have asked repeatedly for the Pre-Authorization from the doctor's office and the answer I get is: "We usually use Insurance for appointments and not for the device". Commercial pilot. Needed a form signed verifying I use a cpap for my FAA medical. Something I've done for several years without issue through the VA but decided to get a sleep specialist closer to home. He wouldn't even see me. Sent his nurse assistant to tell me no.
