We brought our son in there at 1 o’clock on Monday for an emergency MRI due to the blood pressure being off the charts, abnormal EKG hypertension, severe migraine, like headache, shaking, and pain in his arm. I was pretty certain that he was suffering a series of mini strokes due to recent injuries that are healing. This is not my first time experiencing this at Rady Children’s Hospital. When I bring my children to the emergency department for what seems like a minor illness, I often feel that the situation is made to sound much more serious than it may actually be. Multiple tests may be ordered, and during the process, doctors and staff sometimes discuss frightening possibilities that leave parents extremely stressed and fearful. Son went to ER for leg infection post surgery last week. They worked swiftly to assess his vitals, start strong IV antibiotics, and keep him comfortable and stable despite his BP dropping and miserable chills and flu like symptoms. He was very ill and we were concerned, but were put at ease thanks to the expert team at Radys. My family had a very concerning experience at Rady Children’s Hospital. My daughter went in for what was supposed to be a relatively simple ear tube procedure, but what happened surrounding her anesthesia and recovery left us with many unanswered questions.
