The Best Filipino Restaurant ever! Plus: We the People knew this long before. Great food and wonderful Filipino hospitality. Thank-you Amy & Romy for creating community hubs like Cendrillon & Purple Yam. 💗💕💕

Wonderful place, Romy and Amy are culinary geniuses. Brings alive the precious recipes and ingredients chronicled in their fabulous cookbook, Memories of Philippine Kitchens. They've been giving me memories for almost 20 years, beginning with Cendrillon (closed) and now at Purple Yam. Highly recommended.

This is my go to place during special occasions. The food and service is great. My favorites are Ukoy and Cuapao. They try to incorporate indigenous ingredients from the Philippines like the Cordillera rice. Purple Yam is in the front lines of bringing Filipino food to the world stage. Don't forget the classic Buko pie, mango tart, the bibingka. and their homemade ice cream like champoy. One time Romy created lumpia with ube crepe, and crispy softshell crab with ube noodles: it was unforgettable.

Purple Yam is one of the restaurants in NYC I miss the most, now that I'm back in California. When I lived in Manhattan I would regularly stop at the Purple Yam on my way back from the beach and have Chicken Adobo and their excellent homemade Ube ice cream.
