Pueblo Solis

4.4

About this business

A small restaurant located in South St. Louis, Pueblo Solis serves up traditional fare that is definitely a cut above typical Mexican fast food restaurant. The bright, festive décor provides the proper ambiance while sipping a Margarita. The food is expertly prepared, and all the traditional favorites like quesadillas and an excellent guacamole are on the menu. However, for something different, try one their terrific seafood entrees like the Broiled Salmon with Spinach.

Great Guac, Ok Margaritas, Bad Food – I was not a fan of Pueblo (it just didn't live up to all the hype). But, the guacamole was one shining star in the otherwise dim meal. Too long a wait – Went in evening and was seated immediately. Waitress said she would be there soon - finally came back and took drink and dinner orders. Drinks arrive 10 minutes later only 2 of 3. Waited another 10 minutes for third. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for dinner and was being told the kitchen was behind and only a few minutes more. We finally walked out. I can't tell you if the food was good or not but had plenty of chips and salsa. Never saw a manager, only waitress every once in a while just to come by... read more

WHAT HAPPENED????? – This was our second visit and WOW, WHAT A Difference. THe pinto bean soup we had this time had NO FLAVOR. the spices were lacking. Salt and pepper helped a bit... The beef fajitas were tough and also without seasoning. The margaritas were watery and had no lime flavor or tequila. My wife never received the second beer she ordered. Our complaints were acccepted but no responsibility was accepted. . The manager explained that the taste differed depending on who was cooking. ?????? WE paid our bill and fed ... read more

My absolute fav mexican – my absolute fav mexican resturant in STL! Love that it's in my neighborhood - we always try to walk there bc the bartender makes great/strong margharitas. family friendly. Service can be spotty but they've expanded the resturant with an outdoor patio and more room indoors so that's been helping. great to eat in or carry out (they're on my speed dial). you've never had

There is no better Mexican in St. Louis – My in-laws introduced us to this places a few years ago, and we?ve been hooked ever since. When it was smaller, there were sometimes long waits on weekends. However, they?ve since expanded the dining room twice, and I can?t recall waiting more than 5 min to be seated no matter what day of the week or time of the evening we?ve visited for at least two years. Kevin is a gem! We always request to sit in his section because he?s so nice & attentive. The guacamole, fresh chips & salsa, an... read more

A Great find – Having recently moved here from LA, I have longed for good Mexican food. I would say now that I have found it. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff very friendly and the food top notch. I am amazed as some of the posts have talked about rude service. I disagree...my experience was quite the contrary. We experienced very friendly and attentive waiters. The chips and salsa are amazing. They present 3 different salsas that are fresh and very tasty. I ordered the combo plate and everything was fresh, and served hot. ... read more

Avoid period – We went there having heard great reviews and despised this place. Slow service. Terrible food. It was definately not Mexican. It was not Tex Mex. It was someone's convoluted idea of Mexican. The WORST Mexican place in Saint Louis.

Not good! – Very overpriced! Also we waited over 45 minutes to get our food and it was horrible! The service was ok at best. The food was just plain, small portions, and just not good. I love mexican food, but this place was bad! We came from Chesterfield to eat there because it was so recommended...should have went to Taco Bell!
