Very disappointing experience with Dr. Urband at Prestige Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. My initial appointment lasted less than 10 minutes, yet my insurance was billed over $800. That alone felt excessive for the amount of time and care provided. What was even more frustrating is their policy that if you have pain in your arm, you are only allowed to discuss one joint per appointment. Three years ago (November 2022), our son was in a devastating e-bike accident that caused a severe open wound to his tibia and fibula. The ambulance rushed him to Scripps La Jolla, and by sheer luck, Dr. Christopher Urband was the trauma surgeon on call that day. Dr. Urband is a quality physician. I honestly believe this. My issues are not with his ability, but with the support staff. The office staff forced me to cancel a surgery 3 days before it was scheduled. - They never answer the phone. - I called 5 different dates over 8 business days without receiving a call back. (10days prior to surgery) - Once dialogue was restored, they told me a different date for surgery each time they contacted me to confirm the surgery date. Not sure about actual service. They dont pick up the phones and dont seem to offer appointment remiders.
