I’ve generally been happy with PreFix’s preventative maintenance services – that part of their model has been reliable and valuable. Where I’ve run into serious issues, however, is whenever third-party contractors are involved. Recently, I needed electrical work done related to an Austin Energy notice. I was driving when one of this companies vans cut me off abruptly! Almost as if the driver wasn’t checking their mirrors.
When I first started with this service they were ok but customer service has gone down to awful. They keep emailing me about setting up my preventive maintenance appointment and I have been trying for over a week. I can never actually get the office on the phone and I've left several dispatch messages and emailed several times. I am actively looking for another service to use because this one is wasting my money.
I first tried a year-long trial with PreFix, because it was sponsored by my insurance company (USAA). Once that year was completed, I have continued with the company and find it well worth the monthly fee: The two major (included) service inspections cover a wide range of home areas that benefit from preventative maintenance, and the service techs often spot other issues that need to be addressed—long before that problem area can cause real damage.
