This was our first time here, and we won't be back. Our server mumbled the whole time, and she didn't know how to explain the menu items. She said she'd bring our cornbread several times, but we never got any. Our food had little flavor. I ordered the Roasted Garlic Alfredo with chicken. We had an amazing meal at PC last night! Our server Lily gave us the perfect amount of attentiveness with a smile on her face every time she stopped to check on us. The artichoke and spinach dip is the best we've ever had! I had the canary salad and my husband had the apple salad. Both were really fresh and tasty. Great food! One of the nicest restaurants in Grinnell. Great beer and drink selection as well. Service is always top notch. Only complaint is we would love to patronize their bar on weekends but they often close early in the evening.
Stopped in after a long day of traveling had not eaten this day. We were seated downstairs which was rather full staffed with one waitress/ bartender/cashier. I ordered a burger and within 6 hours after eating was vomiting spent the entire weekend between to bedroom and restroom. Spoke to the owner Monday morning explained what happen he explained they do patty all there burgers at which time he said he would send a rain check which we never received nor did they refund the check. Beware
I'm incredibly impressed with the quality and image of Prairie Canary. It reminds me of some of the classier restaurants in bigger cities, with food just as good, at half the price. Even more so, the ambiance is relaxed and open and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, good quality meal
