What Happened to a Good Restaurant In my experience when Postrio opened it was a very pleasant place to go, but as the hotel crowd descended on this basement turned eatery the hostesses became less concerned with frequent customers and more concerned with the image and snobbery. The last meal I had there in 2001 was not at all worth describing because frankly it was unmemorable.
come stargaze and eat!! Eclectic mix of styles and cuisines.Mediterranean and Asian food mix. Formerly owned by Wolfgang Puck. Great food. Some celebrity sightings. Preferred reservations if staying at the hotel PROS: CONS: can get a little pricey!!
If I never eat at Postrio again, it's only because I can't afford it. Postrio is one of the loveliest, classiest restaurants in the city. This is the place to take your lover for a very, very special occasion. The dining is world-class (I recommend the lamb chops and ahi tuna), the service is superb, and the atmosphere is elegant. That being said, it's also an expensive restaurant, but you do get everything you paid for. Parking is difficult, but it only makes their valet service that much more worthwhile. PROS: Almost every... read more
Yum! Great food and great atmosphere. Had a wonderful meal here while attending a conference. Very convenient to Union Square. Make sure you save room for desert!
Disappointing – Unfortunately, I waited to make a reservation to a restaurant in San Francisco 4 days before Christmas. Choices were limited, so I thought, lets make a reservation at Postrio. I have been there years ago and it was great! Not this time! I should have just had appetizers and called it a night. The appetizers were delicious and that is were it ended. 2 steaks were not cooked to specifications and 3 dishes were brought out cold. One dish was not brought out with the others. The wine list was sparce and didn't gi... read more
INSANELY RUDE STAFF AND MANAGEMENT!!!!!! FOOD JUST OKAY – I made reservation online using open table while researching restaurants I always check out there web sites. So to my surprise when I arrive and told the host that I had made a reservations she stated to me that I'm sorry miss but we don't allow shorts in this restaurant so could you go back home and change then come back! I was a little upset do to the shorts I was wearing were dress shorts not jean shorts I was in a nice shirt with heels... I asked to speak to the m... read more
Great food, Not 5 star. – Go by the locals pizza grill to enter this place, had great food, the service was great and is a typical celeb name joint but give it 4 stars not 5. Nothing to do with service or food, the chairs backed up in the hall next to the tacky restrooms and the entrance to the place just does not give the right impression for the great service and food it puts out. My 5 stars and best in CA goes to the studio in laguna beach at the montage hotel much higher and 5 steps up in service and detail different cla... read more
Delicious! – The last time my mom and I were in San Francisco, we made a visit to this acclaimed restaurant. Every bit was delicious. We ended up staying for serveral hours and eating our way through several courses. I would definately recommend Postrio for anyone who is looking for a nice evening out. It can be a romantic restaurant, but we were surrounded by all different types of groups not only the couples. I loved it.
When dining in San Francisco, don't make Postrio a priority – I saved a gift certificate I received to this restaurant for a rainy day and when I finally used it, I was thoroughly disappointed. For what you pay, you can get a much better meal at other SF restaurants. My husband and I started with pulled pork ravioli - the pork was water logged with very little sauce and the pasta sheets were very thick and undercooked. The dish had a great concept but was poorly executed. Our entrees were delivered 20 minutes after our empty... read more
