So many choices, you're in store for a food coma ;). Wow, where do i begin? well first, the sandwhiches are just amazing. very authentic and tasty. You can tell they put a lot of work into their pork. I recomend the Medianoche and Ropa Vieja. The deserts, well, that's when your coma begins. The guava and cheese rolls are classics in cuban cuisine and are a must try. Best chain bakery out there. If I had the money, I would invest in Porto's and/or purchase a franchise. This small Cuban-influenced SoCal chain puts the other bakery/sandwich shop chains (Panera, Atlanta Bread Co., et al,) to shame with the strength of their pastries,cakes, and other baked goods. I visited Downey for 3 days and made my way to Porto's on two of those days. Good but always Busy. This place is worst than a race track, think of the 405 during rush hour and that pretty much sums it up. You hate going there, but have to, besides they've got really good coffee, smoothies, bread,.........................

We were in L A on business and stopped here on a lark. We enjoyed every bite. The meat pies were perfect. My tres leches---delicious. My ropa vieja was very good. Seasoned just right and the meat was lean. Next time I am out here I'll go back. My boss had a great meal as well. The people at the counter were very helpful. Just a nice place to find. Yummy.

The Place Has Lost It's Luster. Ya know, I used to be a HUGE fan of Porto's (especially their Burbank location -- before the Downey location opened up), but my last few visits has been a little lacking. Sure their sandwiches are always on point, but tend to go with their dinner plates -- I like the rice & beans. Being a big fan of ropa vieja, that is definitely my go-to-dish. However, the portions for the ropa vieja plate, especially the KEY part -- the BEEF, has been steadily shrinking like a a cheap t-shirt in hot water.... read more

Doesn't stray far from the Glendale version. Maintains a consistency of delicious sweet and savory pastries, sandwiches and salads, cakes and other desserts. Business is booming so be prepared to wait in line.
