I did my research and came into the store to buy a chefs knife. I ended up getting a great lesson on Japanese knives. The knives i thought were the best turned out to be lower end knives at this shop. The prices were excellent and i purchased better knives for less money than i expected to pay. I'm saving my money for more knives at the moment. Great shop.

Just purchased a chef's knife from them, sales person was patient and full of great info, did not try to upsell me. I'm looking forward to a knife sharpening class with them in the near future. Knife is scary sharp out of the box.

Recently visited the shop and was amazed on the level of customer service and knowledge from the guy who helped my friend get a knife. Instead of being "cold shouldered" or condescending or even worse upselling....they helped bring different options and worked with the client to determine their needs. If you're ever in the Portland area and want to buy a knife, definitely make a stop at this place.
