So looking forward to brunch at the Ballard Portage Bay Cafe based on how wonderful it was on my last visit and was very disappointed last Friday, June 17th. I ordered the West Coast Benedict and a side of Carlton Farms pork. The hollandaise was white, looking and tasting like it plain yogurt or sour cream in it, and ran completely all over the plate. I really wanted to like this location because I've been to another portage bay location that was really good, but this was awful. I ordered the crab eggs Benedict. The potatoes were very dry, the crab didn't taste fresh, the muffin was undercooked. To top it off I barely got service, no refill on water, no asking me how the meal was. I left half a $20 plate because I didn't want to eat it anymore but I also didn't want to wait forever for a better prepared one. Takes forever! Bad staff! Not worth it the place has gone downhill!
Check in ladies are rude and just saw a lady change her baby's diaper on a table in front of every guest.
On 9-13-13 they catered our wedding at Beecher's Loft. I cannot say enough about the wonderful food and warm service the staff of Portage Bay provided! Everything was absolutely amazing. A very belated public thank you to these amazing people!
