Ponchatoulas was founded in February 1996, by original owner Johnny Gaudet, who then partnered with Chris Garriga in 2004. With a passion for good food and fun, Gaudet opened the restaurant on the bustling Park Avenue in downtown Ruston. The building housed a fire station in the early 1900's, complete with the big red fire truck and even horse-drawn carriages lining the downtown streets. The catfish was great and you get a lot of them. Jim loved his meal too.

Only reason I️ give I️t 1 star is because that’s as low as I️ can go. Stay away from here if you want/expect good food.
Great food and the service was great. Had the catfish and the gumbo. Loved the Jack on the rocks to go with it

Thank you so much for the fried turkey �. We had it last night for our work Thanksgiving dinner. It was wonderful. Everyone raved over it!!!

I got the stuffed catfish and the sweet tea. Was blown away by the overall presentation and the incredible flavors!! Madison was extremely helpful in helping me choose my entree and she performed awesome service. I highly recommend this place!!
