Disappointing – Let me begin with the highlights of this restaurant: the service is excellent--friendly and attentive, the ambience--is great- bright, lots of pictures of Paris, it feels like spring when you walk in and it's great for big groups including families with children. I had high expectations for this place because people had alot of good things to say about it. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed when I went here for brunch. I had the egg and tofu dish and it tasted so bad I could not even take another bite of ... read more
Creative entrees – Went for dinner food, the food was excellent and the entrees were very creative. Very large portions. Excellent fish. I have to admit the dessert was a little creative, we didn't like it at all, but we told the maitre de who was circulating and he took it off our bill and asked questions about why we didn't like it.
Great Food, Cozy Spot – I love this place. The food has been excellent both times I've gone. I would normally be weary of a place that has such a diverse menu but somehow they pull it off. The last time I went I had the special, which was paella - the mussels were so fresh and sweet - and I normally don't like them! Food tastes like homemade and you feel like you're in someone's cozy little place.
Great inexpensive gourmet vegetarian cuisine – We were the last table in the joint but the two staff members (server and manager?) treated us like we were the first. The server took the time to carefully explain the menu to us and that we could make ANY entree vegetarian. The global menu is such that any entree's peripheral ingredients shine with flavor despite the absence of meat or fish. Every dish is from a different cuisine and absolutely delicious. And for some reason, despite being the last and only table in the place ... read more
This place is great – I love eating at pomelo. The owner and his partner are always so kind to us when we come in. The menu always changes and offers a wide range of regional food. The salmon over quinio was my favorite. The smoke trout and wild rice with horseraddish dressing is to die for.
This place rocks!! – This place is sooo great!! We'd go to the inner sunset location once a month or so and always had great food and good service. The staff there is friendly - its a tiny place so poor service doesn't seem possible and it was fun to sit at the bar and watch the cook. Now we're closer to the Noe location and tried it recently - twice in a weekend! We looked at the new summer menu online and went for dinner. Since we had friends coming to visit that weekend, we decided to get sunday brunch there. There was a ... read more
AN OVERALL GREAT PLACE – Pomelo is a great little neighborhood spot. Their menu is always offers a wide range of flavors from around the world. I have been there twice now and I felt like the service was excellent. We were served by the same man both times and he gave us warm and friendly service. He even brought us complementary muffins our second time back. I talked to some co-workers about pomelo and the concensus was that this place is a hit!
Wonderful and Creative!! – I love the seasonal menu at Pomelo. The polenta with mushroom ragu is like nothing I have ever had before....I love it! Great place for a creative and fresh meal for a great deal. This place is small and can get crowded, but the food is sooooo worth it.
This quiet outpost on the far edge of Noe Valley serves cuisine from the four corners of the globe. – In Short Consisting of one spare, colorful room, this small restaurant revels in far-flung influences. The menu changes every six weeks. Dishes are named for global "side trips" and "destinations," such as Tripoli, a Jerusalem artichoke with chickpea hummus on crostini, or Havana, a grilled skirt steak with Cuban fried rice, black beans and plantains. Fish or seafood specials are also available on a daily basis.
Pomelo has a 4.4 star rating with 139 reviews.
Pomelo is closed now. It will open on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
