This authentic French patisserie with a hip Portland twist serves fine desserts, beer and wine until late. Choose from exquisitely wrought chocolates, an extensive and impressive wine and beer selection, macaroons of the day, and their famous specialty deserts that are almost too pretty to eat. Often crowded, your patience will be rewarded with the first bite at Pix/Bar Vivant. Choose from the mirrored case before you let the knowledgeable wait staff recommend a pairing. A small lunch menu is also available. Bring a date to ... read more

Poor service – The desserts were excellent. However, the service was extremely poor. The waitress was not prompt to serve us. For instance, when the menu order was requested we were ignored. Instead, the group that came after us was served first. I believe that service is very important for any branch of business. If personnel is an issue, they should consider hiring someone else that can provider better service.
Best in Portland – Papa Haydn, better be worried. This place puts you to shame! Blow off dessert at every meal and run, don't walk, down to Pix. Their selections are incredible! From the desserts to the truffles, everything is ambrosia and sometimes daring (beer float is sleeper). They also have a wonderful wine selection. They only downside is they have no non-carbonated/non-alcoholic beverages (would it be so hard to have some juices?). This place won't be a secret for long.
Oh, YUMMY!!! – WOW! These desserts are to die for!! Try the Tart MenageaTrois, positively orgasmic! Or the Queen of Sheba Truffle Cake, so moist and rich and choclaty it simply melts in your mouth.
pix is a pass – I was very excited to go to Pix. I was impressed by the decor and the service. Unfortunately the desserts we had did not measure up. We tried the puff pastry apple almond tart, a coffe dessert and the queen of sheba cake. The queen of sheba cake was decent. The other two could have been made at home better. If you are looking for a special treat pass pix and spend 2 or 3 more dollars and go to Papa Haydn's
Pix Me Up! – I've introduced five friends to Pix and all gave it a solid 10. The desserts are creative to eclectic, sinfully rich, and decadently decorated. I've tried the award winning Amelie, Royale, Margielane's Potluck Pleaser and Port Fig Chocolate Tart. Just to give an idea of the potency of these seemingly petite creations, the Amelie has sponge, chocolate mousse, hazelnut crocant, chocolate ganache, Cointreau and a tiny crème brulee on top. Okay, I confess, I've also indulged in the handmade chocolates, which you can... read more
Pix's Schtick... – If you truely are a "pastry slut" and are 100% passionate about all things pastry/chocolate than this boutique is a pure treasure. Comfy, warm, and very inviting decor and cool sounds, I could just linger and drool for hours. On par with shops in Manhattan!
