We made the 108 mile trip from Jerseyville to see what this place was about. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Dan and Mary who own this were very pleasant. Dan is of the rare breed of restauranteurs who make a point to interact with every guest who walks through the front door. He comes with jokes to make folks feel welcome. Had a lovely drive from Cape Girardeau Mo the food was great the service superb. We went for Father's Day and it was very busy but everyone was genuine and courteous. My whole family enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Great chicken and loved the salad dressing.

Heard and read about the cabin many times, tonight my husband and I drove an hour, it was great. Everything is great. Loved the bread and strawberry butter...and the salad i ate nearly the whole bowl...looking forward to returning...the prices are very reasonable.
Great service, no problem there. Food was good. What bothered us was there was food left in our bowls when we were done. Nothing was said about to go boxes. Eating family style at other restaurants, we always were allowed to take the food that was left on our table. I asked the waitress what was done with our leftovers. She looked embarrassed when she told us they use them somehow. They are recycling the food left on the tables when people leave. We will never go back. We love eating here, we have 7 children and when it comes time for their birthday dinner they always want to go to pioneer cabin. Good food, very friendly and it's a beautiful place to enjoy a family meal.
