Like going to another planet, in your car! A sign I read said, every 1000' up was like going 600 miles north. At 11,500' it's similar to Sitka Alaska, Ofc its over 14,000' to the top. It just takes 19 miles to get there.

We drove to the summit. Rangers were top notch. Very polite. Respectful and knowledgable. The views are amazing. It was super intense drive with our three sons. Only major negative was the staff at the top. Horrible. It meant a lot for us to get a shirt at the store. It was sleeting and bad weather at the top. The store was jammed packed. No room to walk. Was to the summit today,7/10/2017 and there wasn't a cloud in the the sky,Perfect!
The drive was beautiful and amazing all the way to the top. We got to see a beaver, Marmot and chipmunk. Enjoyed our journey with many pictures for memories.
