I have worked on the provider and payer side. Some system that provides care to All and has no profit motive is the only right solution.
Reg. Conyers has just reintroduced H.R. 676 (an improved Medicare for all) in Congress. It is currently estimated that the yearly waste in paper work for the insurance industry is $375 billion. How much longer do we tolerate this?
I taught about this years ago but many special interests spend huge sums to frighten people into believing this to be problematic. Not a magic bullet to be sure, but way more efficient than third-party systems which spend millions on advertising and insurance middle management which burdens the system with astronomical overhead costs, about 1/3 of the dollars spent on health care.
Keep Up the Good Work
Stated simply - healthcare is a public good. It is not a commodity to be bought and sold. It is not something that should be provided only to those who can afford it. Poor health costs employers far more in lost work hours and productivity than providing healthcare benefits would. But - since so many millions are not covered by employer-provided benefits - the government must step in. It is what governments do - provide for the common good.
Great For We The Uninsured that Doctors and Medical Personnel are endorsing Medicaid Expansion and Single Payer Healthcare !
A much needed voice.
Since physicians who actually take care of people are opting out of the ACA because they can't afford to accept such low payment and keep their offices open, I am not in favor of any National Health Program. Further, complaining that insurance CEO' s earn too much but remaining mute on the earnings of those Democrats who forced us all to buy their product seems somewhat hypocritical.
This can't come soon enough. We need to be a bit humble and admit that other countries do healthcare better than we do and it's all about the system.
