The VA is a government-run Hospital insurance that's not working out too well
I THINK IT'S FABULOUS. I am a health exile from the USofA. Was refused care of breast cancer by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in 1978. I emigrated to France in 1979. The French medical plan has saved my life innumerable times. Anyone who is against single payer is a selfish pig. If you have no kids, you still pay school taxes. If you have no garbage you still pay for garbage collection. You pay to belong to a society that works. This USA is not working. It's hobbling the American people in the name of greed. Premise is good but implementation poorly planned.
The only differences between this and what we have now is that a) medical costs will drop as corporate profits are taken out of the picture, b) everyone will contribute, just as with the new ACA law, but subsidies for the low earners will be processed easily with the rest of our annual taxes, and c) hospitals and insurance companies will be prevented from gouging the public as the current oligopoly system allows.
I'm baffled---how do 19,000 physicians in America think it's ok to put a gun to my head and make me pay for someone else's care? What happened to "do no harm"?
I think that their heads are totally up their a$$es. They have no idea what reality will cause with a single payer program. Look at the VA. Also I find that doctors are notoriously bad businessmen. If a doctor gives me a tip I know that the stock will suck.
Please make this happen now!!!
