Shady Practices I went to Phil & Son's to have a transmission switch changed. They ended up breaking my shifter and console. They never told me about it When I found the issue and brought the car back, they tried to super glue the console with globs of glue and told me they couldn't fix the shifter, I was out of luck. The console glue job never held because of the loose shifter. I won't go back and I tell everyone I meet about the problems I had there.

Newburyport Resident I've been a loyal customer of Phil & Sons for over 10 years going back to when they were on Rte 1 (Bridge Rd). I've recommended them to friends and family and will continue to do so!

Really Great Auto Repair Place I never take the time to review a business but after reading the other reviewer, I too feel compelled. After living in the Newburyport area for about 4 years and searching for a decent and reliable auto repair establishment, we are relieved to finally find one. After two very bad and very expensive experiences with State St Mobil and Angies Service Station on Plum Island, dealing with Phil's was like a breath of fresh air. Reliable Mechanic Great people, and that's what service is all about! Phil and Sons is so easy to deal with and they get your car in and out quickly. They are very reasonably prices compared with some other shops too. Waiting area is comfortable and kid friendly, with a TV to watch while waiting for the oil change, etc. Easy to find on Merrimac Street near the Ferraz company building across the street.

I brought my car in for a new timing belt, oil change, state inspection and check engine light. The computer showed my transmission switches needed to be replaced. During said replacement of switches, the mechanic broke my shifter assembly and console. No mention of either was mentioned when my car was picked up. Phil and Son's refused to replace the broken parts after two attempts to "fix" them failed. Small claims court seems to be in the near future.

I have brought two different vehicles here, on two separate occasions. Never, ever again. Dishonest, sneaky and irresponsible.
