There is no review that could fully capture my gratitude for the surgery performed by Dr. Derman, but I am going to give it my absolute best because it’s important for anyone suffering from back pain to know how different he is. I’m 42, in good shape from collegiate athletics, but back pain has plagued me since my early 20s. It takes me a lot to write this review. Dr. Derman is very kind and is a very good surgeon. However, I had a bad outcome from his work. In Dec 2024 I had a cervical endoscopic foraminotomy to treat 4 years of chronic pain near my shoulder blade. Unfortunately the surgery did not help at all. I now have partial paralysis of my trapezius muscle in the region of the surgery and this has likely caused some additional shoulder pain. Dr. Derman was amazing. In May a simple turn to walk out of the laundry room created immediate pain in my hip, upper and lower leg. I started using a cane then crutches. As an advid cyclist, I went from riding 30-40 miles four times a week to needing help putting my socks and shoes on. After three steroid injects provided no relief, Dr Derman and I planned my procedure. Dr. Derman is a very talented surgeon that relieved my back issues- now 4 years out from surgery and still symptom free . He is my forever back surgeon.
Dr. Peter Derman has excellent bedside manners, is very knowledgeable, patient in listening to my concerns and gave me best possible options for my back surgery. Looking forward to him being the one operating on me.
