Peebles Bar-B-Que was started in 1947 by Elle and Gladys Peebles. Mr. Peebles drove a school bus and started his small business on the side. The small side job turned into a major landmark in no time. He was soon joined by his two sons to help run the restaurant that had grown incredibly. Later after Mr. Peebles had left the business to his two sons, Dale Strickland married Mr. Peebles youngest daughter Marsha Peebles. Good barbque I like this barbque. It is one of the few that I do like. It is worth the drive from Lakeland to get some good food. The prices are about right and the service is great. The appearance is deceiving, the food is good, so don't go by looks.
Excellent barbecue! Don't let the building fool you! Peebles is a well known establishment in Auburndale off Old Dixie Highway. It's a converted chicken shack so the place looks rustic, I mean really rustic! But that's part of its charm. The ribs are excellent, some of the best I've ever eaten. after 20 minutes of trying to reach the establishment by phone, I went to the restaurant in person and place my order. There was only one person ahead of me who had ordered and one person waiting to order when I arrive. Counter girls who are supposed to be answering the phone we're walking around laughing and drinking ice. But certainly not answering the phone. Food, left plenty to be desired. glowing recommendations. it's sad that I have not been there in 10 years. but have visited and ordered out a good 300 times. 299 times the food was spectacular. the other time it was just absolutely delicious
been coming here for their rib plate for 15 years Mr Dale and his whole team are fabulous and friendly plus all that hard work they do is appreciated.....only have to suffered during the summer time and wait for them to open back up in September so I can go back to having the best barbecue
