Patatas Bravas Make My Year – As with much of the neighborhood, we mourned the closure of Ricardo's Tapeo. We took my parents out to dinner at Patanegra to celebrate his return and my mother's birthday, and had a wonderful time. The service was fun and entertaining, and humored our attempts at Spanish. Many of the dishes were wonderful, particularly the Patatas Bravas (deliciously spicy) and the mushrooms. We ate every last bit, even the little fish (sardines? anchovies? I didn't order them but I did enjoy them), and moved o... read more

Too oily, and need to be more accommodating – A gal-pal and I went here in its first two weeks of business. We were sorely disappointed with the service and the lack of accommodations made to diners. I was 6 months pregnant, yet even so the waitress wouldn't BUDGE when I asked for one ingredient to be left off a salad. My friend finally blurted out, "but she's PREGNANT, and might be allergic to it!" Nope, waitress said chef was very adamant about not making any changes. She also gave my friend a hard time about the beverage ... read more

As good as you can get outside of Spain – Patanegra is is the most autentic Spanish tapas I have had in the US. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, you can't go wrong!

Cool authentic tapas, soul-warming paellas and a vibrant atmosphere bring Spanish flavor to NW Thurman. – In Short The room's bold orange walls, concrete floors and Picasso- and Miro-inspired paintings complement the rustic timbered ceiling, open kitchen crammed with paella pans and handwritten chalkboard menus. Smartly dressed 30- and 40-somethings enjoy spirited conversation and a wide variety of fresh tapas and cooked-to-order paellas. Sample offerings include grilled Catalan tomato bread; mixed salad of greens, roasted v... read more

Wonderful Flavors – What a great way to spend time with a group of friends. We ended up at this fun place after a night at the theater and indulged in pitchers of Sangria to start - great use of fruit and just the right amount of brandy and wine. Our array of tapas were perfect, succulent clams, mussels, garlicky prawns, the best duck we've had in a long time. The fish special with cremini mushrooms were cooked just right. Gather your friends, select from the best Spanish wine list in town, try the wonderful selection of spa... read more

Fantastic! – I have travelled quite a bit over the years and Spain was always a favorite destination with many lengthy stays. This place serves the best tapas by far from any I've experienced on this side of the hemisphere and possibly beats many in Spain itself. We have been back several times and each time the service, food and ambience was a pleasure. Tapas and paellas were full of flavor, wonderful use of pimenton, spanish paprika, and the wine list spectacular. I completely disagree with the prior review and have to say... read more

Waste of four hours – While the server was very friendly, the price and the food was not. It was a total waste of time, and they apparently do not know the difference between vegetarian and non-vege. Save your money and go to the great bakery next door.

Expensive and Mediocre – Where did the flavor go? Garlic prawns were devoid of garlic. Seafood/rabbit paella was, for two people at $18 PER PERSON sharing a 9-inch diameter dish, a study in soupy blandness - dry, bony chunks of rabbit cowering behind the rubbery scallops. Sangria was unpleasantly reeking of brandy- tone it down a little! Wine list was the only good point. Don't go expecting the rich and pungent tastes of the former Tapeo - they were left behind.
