We Agree with other Reviews: Bad Management, Bad Food, Bad Prices – So my wife and I go out to eat 4 times a week. Total foodie nerds. And last week, because the decor looks very nice, we decided to try Patanegra. Big mistake. Expensive mistake. First, the food is both pricy and unsatisfying. For example, their expensive cheese plate was 5 thin slices which amount to less than you'd get if you tried a few samples at your local cheese store. But that's not the biggest issue. When we asked what kind of cheeses they were, we we... read more

felt nickeled and dimed – My meal at Patanegra was overpriced and mediocre. The tables for two are too small for several tapas plates. We started with the spanish cheese plate--it was 5 paper-thin slices of various spanish cheeses for $9.75. They were wonderful, but I have seriously had more cheese while tasting at a cheese counter. The patatas bravas had a very flavorful sauce, but the potatoes were gummy--as if cooked in a microwave. The calamari was good, but the aioli (too mayonaise-y) was an addition $2.50! Olive oil fo... read more

My Fave – This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. We always receive great service and helpful recommendations about what to order. We haven't tried the paella or other entrees because we've been perfectly content sampling the tapas menu. We order different plates each time and are always supremely satisfied! The best is topping off a meal with a cafe con leche and then a paseo around the neighborhood to help with digestion. Ah... to be Spaniards!

Bad service and a bad paella - so sad!!!!! – I took my wife for a nice dinner- it was a very bad experience. The waiter gave us a lecture on wine, perhaps thinking we were plonk guzzlers, the paella was stale, tough, as though it came from a box. Finally, for a Spanish restaurant, we were asked to pay for olive 0il!!!!!!!!!!!! - that was a last straw. Went to the coop across the street, and got some soup. Very very annoying and bad experience there.

Paella great! price not so good... – The food was excellent! the taste was sooo good. However the price for the paella was too high in my opinion. We order a paella for 2, which is the minimum, and each had to pay $18.50. So basically the price for a paella for 2 was $37, which i could have eaten it all myself. So make sure to order something else because it wont fill you up. I went to this restaurant looking especifically for authentic paella and like i said the flavor was great. Their wine list and service were great too.

A Great Spot for Groups or Girls Night out – I have been here three times with my girl-friends and have enjoyed it every time. The Sangria Pitchers are wonderful, and the food is yummy. Its nice to just relax and enjoy the tastes of Spain! The service staff has been great and takes care of you on the spot! I will always suggest this place for fun!

The owner is a raving lunatic – My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday night at 7PM. We walk into an EMPTY restaurant with only two customers. We're instructed to sit anywhere, so trying to enjoy a romantic evening, we choose a table for 4 and decide to sit next to each other in a booth. We're informed that the manager has asked us to move to a smaller table in case the restaurant gets busy. We comply but want to see the manager who ignores our 3 requests. Finally, I approach him and and kindly ask to sit together b/c it's e... read more

Good Food – We ate here fairly early on a rainy weekday night, so we didn't have any trouble getting a table right away. We had an attentive waiter to start, but then there was a shift change and we felt a bit lost in the shuffle. The food was good, though, if not a bit expensive for what we received. The cheese on the cheese plate was tasty but would skip next time for a dish that was a bit more complex and worthy of the $$$.

Lousy food – I have been to Patanegra only once, and the food was so bad I'll never go back. I started my meal with an awesome sounding duck confit and lentil salad, but was horribly dissapointed by the astounding lack of quality ingredients in a $15 salad. The duck was horribly dry and bland, and there was nothing much else to speak of. The paella, a dish that should be mastered in a Spanish restaurant, was dry, bland and devoid of character. I went into this restaurant with nothing but good intentions and searching for a g... read more
