About this business

This 'pasticceria' or bakery is located in the West Village and if you are looking for Zeppole, Pignoli, Cannoli or any other Italian sweet, you have come to the right place. Since 1974, Rocco Generoso has served traditional recipes and pastries that he inherited from the previous owner of the storefront at 243 Bleecker Street. The list of treats goes on-and-on, from Panettone and Rainbow cakes to Biscotti and Linzer Tarts, it's nearly impossible to leave without a dozen of something.

Despite its French patisserie styling, this stalwart of the Village (not many businesses left that can lay claim to this long a single location history) has a comfortingly old New York feel. That great cross between New York diner and 19c European Grand Cafe, definitely not a modern European cafe with clattering cheap chairs and wheatgrass growing in tubs in the tables. The menu is broad and probably pretty unhealthy, but they know what they are doing and I loved it! The patisserie offerings looked good too!

My family and I have been enjoying delicious pastries from Rocco's for over 15 years. Everything from the turtle cheesecake to the fruit tarts on to the array of cookies are delightful. One of my favorite places to visit

The service was terrible. You guys could use a little more help on Sundays. However, The classic cannoli's were the best I've ever tasted.

I LOVE this place...though yesterday disappointed they did not have my favorite cake and it was my birthday ... it's never too late to eat cake though so I will be making a second attempt at that chocolate/raspberry delight!

Beautiful place. Horrible service. Had breakfast with my hubby. Cold food, sent back and came back just as cold. No toast, then came out cold no butter. Nothing worse than getting things served seperately, missing items, nothing prompt about it.
