About this business

This 'pasticceria' or bakery is located in the West Village and if you are looking for Zeppole, Pignoli, Cannoli or any other Italian sweet, you have come to the right place. Since 1974, Rocco Generoso has served traditional recipes and pastries that he inherited from the previous owner of the storefront at 243 Bleecker Street. The list of treats goes on-and-on, from Panettone and Rainbow cakes to Biscotti and Linzer Tarts, it's nearly impossible to leave without a dozen of something.

I live in Connecticut frequent this area and have been going to Rocco's for close to 9 years now. I have introduced many of my Ct friends to Rocco's and also some of my N.Y. friends. I believe that the one thing we always seem to agree upon is that Rocco's Pasticceria is the best of the best! The lobster tail is a killer being one of my favorites with the French Lulu hanging a close second. When I stop in I usually always see several of the same faces and always feel welcome. Been a regular since I was a kid in the 70s. Despite the renovations, Rocco's keeps on keeping on as the best place in the neighborhood for a treat. Nothing better than their chocolate and hazelnut Italian ice anywhere, ever. Pastries can't be beat. This was my summer lunch place when I lived on Barrow Street. I am here whenever I can be. Love Rocco's!!

The aroma and taste of the glorious Italian pastry shops of my youth (nearly 60 years ago). The cannolis are wonderful (although I wish they were made with candied fruit and not chocolate chips). AND they know how to make tea! It's tea bag tea but of high quality with properly boiling water for black tea and a nice big mug. Oh, and wifi. The best of old and new.
