Not happy with experience relative to returning a defective grill propane tank. Today went to an Amerigas grill propane exchange machine in ****** ***** **, as instructed by Amerigas the day before to return a defective leaking tank. Arrived at the location at 10:00 am and called the number provided, chose Option 2, and waited 5 minutes on hold with no human contact before hanging up. I rented a house in Walker and when I took over the account from the previous tenant I was told I was buying out the amount of propane left in the tank and the tenant would be refunded for the unused propane. Fast forward to when I moved out in August 2020 and emailed them to let them know my forwarding address to send the check to for the propane refund of what the new tenant would be buying out from me and they have yet to send me a refund. TERRIBLE SERVICE SINCE BLUE FLAME BOUGHT BY AMERIGAS. Failed to make service call scheduled early September 2020. I have never received a follow up call to reschedule. I also have spent over 1 hour on hold trying to reach their offices. Attempted to go on line to schedule delivery the system says it will send an email with a privacy code. No code has been sent.
This is what Amerigas has on it's website: "From phone call to delivery, we treat you like family. We are dedicated to keeping your home and life running smoothly, so our always-on customer support is here to find the answers you need as soon as you need them." This is the reality: After moving here 3 months ago, Amerigas, who the prior owner used, NEVER contacted us to sign up with them. I'm not really happy today. I have three tanks: a 500 gallon and two 1,000 gallon tanks. On Friday I placed a delivery order on the website with specific amounts ordered for each tank. Delivery truck came today - great. As he was pulling away I looked at the delivery tickets. The tank for which I'd ordered a delivery of 450 gallons got 200. Price gouging at its best! Over 20+ years they have consistently been $1 or more higher per gallon than surrounding competitors. They always have issues finding my account and are very difficult to work with. Normally I have to haggle to get them to match price, but they are always resistant. Also, they do not perform regular service checks on the tanks that they own, they will only service the tank after there is a problem reported. After reading many good things about our local LP provider Campbell LP out of Shallotte, NC, I decided to call on Sept the 10th to get a quote to install a underground tank and establish service for my generator and gas logs. I started the process of getting service at my house 2 weeks ago. Site survey was completed and the tech told me if I called the office right away he could probably be back out that same day and deliver my tank and get me up and running. Almost a week later I can't even get a delivery scheduled. I'm told daily that someone will call me and have yet to receive a call. I call twice a day and no one can help. Caveat Emptor! The Amerigas site when logging on tells me I must call the local office for information on placing an order. They scheduled an inspection and fill-up, with me having to be present, on 10-9-2020. This was a no show by Amerigas. Called them on the 10-11-2020, asking what happen, Wondering if the order was still valid, and was told by Marsha, she would look into it and would call back in an hour- she never never did!
