too busy for a new customer – I called today to make an appointment since the other reviews seemed pretty favorable. The receptionist was snotty when I tried to make an evening reservation for color. I was ok with either colorist as long as they could fit me in after 5 on any weekday next month. (pretty flexible with date) I explained that I had long curly hair.She didn't understand that I couldn't leave work early during the week. So this is a "review" about how successful we are written by someone who decided not to come in. It has nothing to do with the quality of the services we provide. It's troublesome that someone would decide to list us as "not recommended" when they've never been here. It is a very busy time of year. Finally a salon that delivers great work, everyone needs to experience PANYC – PANYC has a very comforatable atmosphere that makes you forget that you are in NYC. The team brings their artistic passion when working with my hair. I feel very comfortable with everyone that makes up the PANYC family. I recommend this salon to everyone I know. I am definitely a fan.
WONDERFUL SALON/ GREAT COLOR! – I am so glad that I found a great salon. After so long I was thinking that I would never find a nice place. I went in for the first time this past week, and got my hair highlighted by Pauline. It was so great. She was fast, and very professional. She knew exactly what I wanted. Not sure about cozy – I went to Panyc after hearing the rave reviews but I was a little disapppointed. The place is so small, everyone was bumping into eachother, including the stylists. The bathroom was a little hole in the wall complete with a non functioning window which was removed and propped next to the window so that the neighbors got a good view of you. There were not enough seats for people recieving treatment and so at one point, I switched off with someone then switched back again. To top this off, their water hea... read more
Go elsewhere – I was very disappointed with my visit to PANYC. After reading the reviews, I went in expecting a good haircut by an experienced stylist. After a few minutes, the stylist (Chris) snipped his finger with the scisors. To my surprise, he said "I do it all the time", pulled out of his drawer a pomade to cover it up, went to the back to get a bandaid and continued to cut my hair --with the same bloody scisors. Yuck! Great cuts, good prices! – It can be tough to find a good haircut at a reasonable price in NYC. As much as I'd like to..I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on haircuts. When I go to Panyc, I don't feel like I'm settling for what I can afford, like at some other businesses. The haircuts are professional, the salon atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and they use high quality products. I highly recommend JC but I know the other folks are excellent too.
Neighborhood salon with high end style – I love the cozy, friendly intimacy of PANYC salon, and it's proximity to my home, but return every few months because of the talent and easygoing nature of my stylist, Chris. He was just recently promoted from junior stylist, but I don't mind paying a few extra bucks (still VERY reasonable for NYC). The styling products always smell so yummy, and everyone always loves my haircut. Chris is a Wiz with layers, and my cuts always grow in very well. friendly and... – Panyc is an intimate salon with great energy, and an easy going atmosphere. While there is a senior team of stylists, I went to a junior stylist and regretted it. My stylist was really kind and gentle but in the end, failed to listen to my initial request and gave me some seriously short and undesirable results. I'd really like to believe that with more experience he would be a great! However, for close to $60 I don't want to be part of his learning curve. If you choose Panyc, consider a senior stylist.
