I have gone to this practice for over 9 years. I've never seen a doctor and that includes having four broken ribs, needed hip replacements and GI surgery. FNPs are usually good and will refer you if you ask. The nursing and office staff are not efficient, not friendly, and don't look like they're really paying attention to you. I am writing this review regarding my experience with Dr. Karen Smith. Due to the significant anxiety this experience caused me, it took me over six months to feel comfortable writing this review. I scheduled the appointment to have Dr. Smith take over management of a daily medication previously prescribed by my psychiatrist. This practice keeps sending me e-mails for one of their patients and refuses to "unsubscribe" me. I do not live there and am not and have never been a patient of theirs. I have asked them nicely to stop, but they persist. They do not understand how to verify e-mail addresses for patients and are compromising patient confidentiality. Serious HIPAA violations. I wouldn't trust this practice with anything, especially if you value your privacy.
I love Dr. Houge but the staff & management of this place is HORRIBLE!! They never answer the phone, & super rude. Also their computer systems are not integrated with any hospitals. Dr. Houge deserves a better team! Switching to a Roper PCP. Roper & MUSC have integrated their computer systems so no matter where you go they can acess medical history & providers notes! PPC DO BETTER!
