Arrogant, haughty manager. Boo. Horrible shell & membrane filled crabmeat. Not 'fine dining' in my experience.
The ambience, building, and most of the food were great. However when the jumbo lump crab meat I ordered was full of hundreds of shredded shell shards, the arrogant manager tried to argue with me that that's how crab meat is. Really? For $160 bill at their self-described fine dining establishment, no, I do not believe the crab should be caked with shell pieces. The night you dined with us was very busy and we apologize for the slow service.We buy the very best crabmeat we can find, unpasteurized, freshly picked because we feel it has the most flavor. Our cooks go through the crabmeat a second time to pick out the shells. We certainly do apologize to you both.
The entrance and gift shop was very appealing. It's really nice and clean inside. The front desk employees were kind and helpful. We received a table within seconds of arrival. Our waitress was kind and helpful (Until the end of dinner). However, she had a huge party of 15-20 people, our table and another couple's table. Our free ice water took awhile though. I found out Owen's doesn't serve sweet tea? It's the first restaurant I've been to in the south that doesn't serve it. I was disappointed but it wasn't a deal breaker. ... read more

We apologize for the slow service. It was a very busy night and we are so sorry. The cheese and crackers are complimentary any we are sorry you did not like that either. The cheese is Wispride, cheddar cheese spread for crackers. We have passed along your Facebook review to our staff and truly do hope you will try Owens again.

Go there every time we visit the OBX. Best prime rib on the east coast. Usually bring visiting family from overseas, Owens never disappoints. Very friendly staff, great food, excellent bar service, a rare find these days.
