I just sent this letter to the owner of Overland Cafe: "I am thinking about writing a "bad" review about you and your restaurant after what happened today. Instead of making things better you made things worse! To remind you of the incedent...I sent back the salmon on my salad (which was not cooked) & my boyfriend finshed his meal by the time it returned to me. First off, you don't ask the customer what you can do to make it better. That's a loaded question that I couldn't answer without some thought & then my boyfriend brok... read more
Your observations about this individual are only the tip of the iceberg. Only one word comes to mind, Sociopath Avoid ths establishment if you have any concience at all.
HORRIBLE – I had been to this restaurant before and thought it was always just ok. However, I went there this past Sunday with a few friends. The owner was exceptionally rude, condescending, and did not seem to care at all about his customers or staff. We walked out and will not be returning again. The cheap champagne is NOT worth supporting this business!!!!
Never Again – We had booked a table for Sunday morning. I arrived on time but I was told that I need to wait until at least half of the group was there. The lady on the front desk was awfully rude when she conveyed this message to me. She gave no importance to her customer and dealt with me while talking to other colleagues and totally ignoring my presence there. I agreed to wait since it was the restaurant policy. But, it kind of felt that the policy was only for colored people!!! May be if I was white I would have been tre... read more
Part dive bar part Chuck 'e' Cheese – If getting f'd up with the wife and kids on a Sunday morning sounds like a family activity that interests you... the Overland Cafe is where it?s at. The food was burnt. Good service; clean bathrooms Expensive; stressful environment?
Not bad, not great – I have been to Overland Cafe a few times, and each time I say to myself, "Well, that wasn't bad, but it wasn't great." The dishes are tasty but not that memorable. I would definitely rate this place a solid good if the dishes weren't overpriced. However, I will keep going back because it does offer a variety of dishes that's a notch above going to Carrow's or Denny's. I do have to say that I am picky when it comes to my olives, and the ones that come with the Grilled Cafe Chicken are yummy. You will defi... read more
Great place for breakfast – The breakfast is very good here. Good eggs and good Sunday-morning breakfast type of place. The service is good on some days, not so good on other days.
Rip off and then some – The food was worse than mediocre and severely overpriced. I thought the service was good until I happened to look up another purchase on my checking account and found out the waitress charged an unauthorized tip to my check card even though we left her a very generous cash tip! Needless to say, I don't recommend this place. There are so many better options in West LA/Culver City...skip this hellhole.
Great Brunch – You can't go wrong with brunch at Overland Cafe. Tons of dishes to choose from (all very tasty) and all-you-can-drink champagne (the cheap stuff, of course) for only $4.99 per person.
