Replaced my hip three and a half years ago. Very good surgeon. Friendly. Not much of a connection personally though - seems aloof and somewhat condescending. Doesn't go above and beyond when circumstances require. Doesn't think much of physical therapy. Will not accept out of pocket payments. After 14 appointments over the last 4 years refused to see me for a scheduled appointment due to a referral glitch from my new insurer - wouldn't even come out to talk to me. I will not see him again.
Dr. Shaia this is Richard whom you did a complete knee replacement on Jan 22 of this year 2018. There are no words I can say except thank you thank you so much. From the beginning you treated me wonderful explaing everything from the day of the operation to where I am now 6 week later. You sir are kind, professional, humorous ,and your bedside manners are bar none. This review only has 5 stars, but i give 12 stars. Also your staff ,and nurses were wonderful. Thank you Dr. Shaia for everything.
I had both knees replaced by Dr. Shaia. I find him to be professional and businesslike but also compassionate and personable. He has a sense of humor and I always felt like he gave me whatever time I needed. Both surgeries went so,well that I didn't even have to,have physical therapy with one and had limited need for PT with the other. I think he's a wonderful doctor and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

He took the time to explain what was wrong with my knee, and what the options were. He has a sense of humor, and compassion. Replacement surgery went great, at 9 months my knee was perfect. I am having the other knee done next. I cannot recommend him enough.
I am not impressed by him, the office is nice but his care, concern and dedication to find answers to issues is severely lacking. He has not listened in regards to what I feel I can do regarding my pain, he has offered no effective pain relief or willing to do whatever it takes to find the cause of my pain. When I expressed concerns, assumptions were made about my abilities that caused me to exacerbate my injury further. I am seeking a second opinion.
