I have ate here at Joe's many times since the late 1960's. My grandmother used to visit from Kansas and this was always the first place she wanted to go to. Many great times and meals at Joe's. Highly recommend.
I took myself out for dinner and sat at the counter. One simply grilled pork chop and sautéed veggies(specially made for me since I requested no garlic), a Manhattan, and a cup of minestrone. Everything was perfect, except for the soup which was tepid. I watched the waiter gladly take it away, pour it into a sauce pan, added more and heated it up for me( no microwave approach) and it came back piping hot. It made for a perfect meal and wonderful experience. That's why I keep coming back.
A real Icon in San Jose I must say there food and service is 2nd to none !!!!!
My wife and I used to love this place. We would eat there 3-4 times a week. We moved to Gilroy and had kids. It was tough just to get schedules to line up for a dinner out with the family. My last time being there we were sitting at the counter with my wife and two kids. My 9 year old daughter ordered the spaghetti and Italian sausage without sauce. The waiter brought it with sauce. We sent it back and watched the cook take his dirty hand and sweat towel and wipe off the sausage and then proceed to re-plate it without sauce.... read more
I ate here back in 2011 when I was visiting with a friend for Fanime (I'm from Texas) and ever since I can't stop thinking about the Ravioli! I tried lamb for the first time, as well as calamari and it was seriously the best meal I've ever eaten. It was funny because I told our waiter I wanted fries as my side he said ok ravioli (I HATE ravioli) I just thought whatever, BUT I'm so glad he did it. For years we ate at Originals Joe's then we moved to Nevada and have never found as good a place as Original Joe's anywhere in Nevada. We miss you so much, we have such good memories.
