Great place, great food, and Dave, the owner, is a real treat. Sadly places like Halibuts that are closing takes away the uniqueness of Portland. You will be missed.
Your review Bartender from Hell - - Today I went to Halibuts last weekend with a couple of friends. The food was actually very good and they also had a great band playing that night. The entire experience was ruined by a staff member there that called herself the "lead bartender." AWESOME!!! – Delicious.... Definitely will be going back again and again for the food. So happy I found this place.
Perfect fish, perfect fries, and I love the cocktail sauce – Went on a Tuesday with a co-worker for lunch, it was the only place I could find chowder not on a Friday....neighborhood was quaint, I loved the relaxed but nicely decorated vibe, medium sized place was cozy. Great Prawns & Chips. – The place has great prawns and great long island iced tea. Great blues music. Although the interiors can use some remodeling or buffing up. It is somewhat dark and it does not look that clean. Maybe change the paint and the flooring.
Halibuts I loved coming here for a delightful meal of what else....halibut cheeks. I had no idea there is meat in the mouths of these awesome fish, it was prepare well and sitting outside watching the funky Alberta street traffic made this a great stop.
A great spot for fish! This is a wonderful place- although I would recommend sitting in the bar rather than the restaurant. The fish and chips are divine, and come in a variety of different fishes: salmon, halibut, cod, etc. All vary in price, but are very reasonable for how delicious they are. Open late, too. Very friendly staff!
