Go to Beluga instead – Overpriced and the service is terrible! I've been twice and each time my husband got his food about 15 minutes before I got mine. The waitresses completely ignored us. They didn't even bring us water for about 5 minutes (we had to remind her 3 times). The sushi is just OK but not worth how long you have to wait for it.
Hypocrisy at its finest – It seems ironic to me that they they charge an automatic 15%-20% tip to every table. I am a server myself, and a while back I waited on the head chef and the owner. They sat at my table for over 2.5 hours working on their new happy hour menu. They ordered drinks, and sent them back for ridiculous reasons. Going Down Hill Fast... – I used to love this place and the owners, but they seem to have forgotten that it is loyal customers who pay for them to be in business. We have always prided ourselves on tipping well 20% to 30% when we could afford it, but right now money is tight for everybody, and their automated tip policy seems no different than if they mugged us. Excellent Sushi in Round Rock – Great atmosphere, authentic Japanese hospitality, delicious food, reasonable prices. I was in absolute heaven over the salmon, fatty tuna, amberjack, and tempura shrimp rolls. Mmm. Mmm. Good. P.S. They have real wasabi too. Who knew? All this time I thought mustard and horseradish with green food coloring was what it was all about.
Best sushi in Austin area!! – My husband (then boyfriends) took me to Origami for our first valentines day and my first sushi experience. I was in love with sushi from then on out, and though I have had tons of sushi elsewhere, we keep coming back to Origami for the best sushi either of us has ever had. Beautiful interior.
Pricey, not worth it – I have been wanting to try Origami for the longest time. The restaurant was nicely decorated and neat. Coming from San Francisco, I compared the food. The servings are small and it was very expensive. They even charge for miso soup. I would not go back even if I am craving for Japanese food. It is totally not worth it.
Best sushi and japanese food in the us!!! – I am Japanese. I moved here last year and have been looking for the good sushi that i ve eaten in Japan. I went there several times for lunch and dinner though, every time the owner, Sugako, was welcoming us always and took care of us. Not only sushi but also Tempura is so delicious Cause chef is Japanese. You can taste " REAL Japanese food" here. I feel like in a home. Highly recommended here!!!
Overpriced ans small portions – My husband and I went here b/c of the great reviews. We love sushi, but have not been able to find a good place since we moved here. We both ordered rolls, I ordered spicy tuna with rice around the outside. Usually just one roll is enough for me, but these were so small, about the size around of a quarter, I was so hungry afterwards! Price was very high for what we got. We will not be going back.
