About this business

Origami is located in the market hotel in the heart of the warehouse district in Downtown Minneapolis. The market hotel, constructed as a two-story building in 1867, originally housed a meat market. When the city made plans to construct the "City Market", John Heinrich, the building's builder and owner, converted the building into a lodging house and named it the "Market Hotel".

too expensive, boring menu – Have anyone ever heard of paying 10% service charge for a TAKE-OUT MENU??? So you take out, but you still have to pay the (unknown) waiter/ress a 10%?!! The food is at most B. In fact, what else do we expect from Japanese food. Tempura, yakiniku, bentos, variety of dons (unagi, katsu etc), udons, ramens, and sushi.......soo boring, these are basically the complete Japanese menu list. So, do Japanese themselves keep eating Tempura on Monday, Udon on Tuesday, Katsu-don on Wednesday .... and cycle i... read more

tooo exspensive – snobby people that waited on us and the drinks were so spendy. the food was ok. if you want really good sushi try Wild Mint in Crystal, they have happy servers and great sushi.

Mixed Experience – Origami has great food compared to Nami, but the service is reprehensible. Our group ordered Origami martinis, which were delicious, but one very obviously did not contain the right proportion of ingredients. Instead of offering to remake the martini, our waitress decided it was a personal insult and slammed things down on our table and treated us rudely for the rest of the night. It's really too bad that staff attitudes were not also altered with the remodeling of the downtown Origami. I won't be back.

MELT IN YOUR MOUTH – If you love sushi this is the place to go. Although they are in the higher price scale, the quality and freshness can't be beat. They have all the regular sushi, but you have to try the tuna tataki appetizer. I've ordered 2 as my dinner entree because it's so good.

The Best – I would have to say Origami is the best sushi place I've been to yet! I have friends that live in San Francisco that came out here this summer and BOTH of them said it was the closest to their sushi that they've had in Minnesota. Phenomenal!

sushi – Origami,Fujiya and Sushi Tango are the most over rated resturants of any kind in the Twin Cities. You should have some Japanese people rate these. My step father was Japanese and he would just shake his head at the wafer thin peices of fish that are served at these joint. The only Japanese resturants that are consitantly good are Kikugawa and Sakura

for the best sushi in town go to origami – origami is by far the best sushi place i have dined at in the twin cities. the menu is filled with traditional japanese dishes plus many others that you have never heard of. with the best quality of sushi in town, a vary relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff origami is my number one choice for shushi.

Where's the "Fish"!!! – Origami's atmosphere is better than most sushi restaurants around town, but the wait even for lunch can be very long. The sushi portions have definitely gotten smaller over the years and are the smallest I have seen anywhere.

Now that's sushi! – Amazing everything--a knowledgable, competent waiter, excellent ambiemce, and the best sushi I've had this far inland. A wonderful choice, whether you're a sushi neophyte or an old hand with wasabi in your veins.
