When I first started donating Platelets in New York City in the 1980's one morning I was told that afternoon 4yr old girl with Aplastic Anemia would get then that afternoon!
I spent over four hours standing in the sun waiting to donate for the Chick-Fil-A/movie ticket deal but my pulse was 4bpm over the limit five minutes after the first check when it was supposed to be ten minutes. I was turned away like garbage with nothing to show for my wasted day. Screw OneBlood. After years of donating, I’m never coming back.
They are extremely courteous, tentative and caring. They are great about your privacy as well. With the new app you can tell where the bus will be and the donor center has extended hours. My uncle had leukemia and MS so I realize the impact donating blood and platelets are. You can save up to 3 people by 1 donation and it only lasts 1 week so donations are always needed. You never know if it will be you or someone you know who needs it. Happy holidays!
Call me weird or whatever, but I love the entire process of donating blood. And, the Village Donation Center is the BEST! I tried to set my next donation appointment, only to find out that I was not eligible to give at this time. I called the Village Center, and they made sure to call me back with the answers I needed - who knew you could only donate a certain amount of blood a year. Very disorganized and unprofessional.
My first experience was wonderful my experience yesterday was nice he could not draw blood and so when he pulled the tube out I had blood all over the table on the floor and me when you walked away and came back it was rather scary my arm hurt bad I still hurt and I’m bruised and swollen today I admit as soon as I saw the blood all over everywhere I called my daughter who is a nurse came to rescue me bring me home and take care of me I’m not sure that I will go back to the blood van again I admit to see all the blood like th... read more
Terrible experience! I have been donating blood since I was 16 and will no longer donate ever again! Swollen and bruised and continuing to get larger two days after the fact! No one at customer care responds and when they do it’s a robot response to apply ice and warm compress alternating.
