HORRIBLE SERVICE – The food and beer is of mediocre quality and the service is terrible. I was with a large group and I think I was served one beer in the 30-40 minutes that I was there. I had one of their burgers which tasted ok, but didn't get it until I was salivating at the mouth. If you want to go to a place for beer and a burger and undisturbed conversations, this is the place.
Bring your friends – The food...well, isnt that great. The ambience, it looks like a gutted out dance hall (oh wait, I think it is.) The service isnt that bad for a brewpub. But the intangibles is what makes this place great. I can't think of a better place to bring a large group to just hang out, eat, and play some pool.
Do you enjoy a total lack of service? – The Old Market Pub has pretty decent food and decent brewpub beer. However, it also has a total and complete lack of dedication to good service. In fact, the Old Market Pub has a long tradition of bad service. I live in the neighborhood, and I've been there several times in the last couple of years. Our Fav! – What a great selection of beers. No matter what kind of beer your thirsty for, you'll find it here. They also have a decent food menu, and an area to sit outside it you wish. Definitely worth the drive from the East side of the river. Gotta love that Hot Tamale!
Needs help - good help! – I have been to the Pub since it opened MANY times on my own and attended private parties there as well. I live in the neighborhood and the Racoon has saved me from the hell of trying to get a drink and some dinner out of a staff that acts like you are bothering them when you arrive at the Old Market! The food can be good when you finally get to order and the beer selection is great. Too bad it's so hard to get.
