With a name like the Old Homestead, you are almost certain that this restaurant praises the bovine from top to bottom. The Old Homestead Steak House first opened in 1868 and it remains a straightforward, old-fashioned steakhouse without sacrificing any of the modern amenities. In this sense, thankfully, it is no longer that difficult to get Kobe beef from Japan, which probably wasn't on the menu in 1868. Most of the dishes are priced in the higher range, but are well worth your money.

RecommendedOne of NYC's oldest (if not the oldest) steakhouses located in the Meatpacking District. Inside and out. Top notch. Service is first rate. Food is excellent. One of my go-to restaurants when I'm craving a good piece of meat. The sides are also terrific. Onion soup is so good. Been a bunch of times and keep going back for more.

I would highly not recommend eating at this restaurant. I was celebrating my partner and I's 4-year anniversary and nothing about this experience- from the service (the worst part) to the food- was special or worth eating here. Upon entry, we entered a very tiny, loud, and crowded dining room on the second floor. The guest next to us was on his phone the whole time, as well as a family with loud children. I’ve passed this restaurant so many times on m my way to the recording studio and always said I gotta try it. Well we finally did and the food was outstanding‼️ the apps were awesome...the steak was some of the best I have had and the service was great. I definitely recommend trying it.
