After more than five years as Dr. Okamura's patient and trusting him through five surgeries, including a total hip replacement, his abrupt decision to stop seeing me came as a deeply painful and unpleasant shock. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be a piece of furniture that occasionally gets yelled at, Dr. Gary Okamura, MD, may be the physician for you. Let me save you the trouble of experiencing his waiting room purgatory yourself: I waited approximately one (in the best scenario), to four hours to be seen, despite having an appointment. I rarely leave reviews like this but felt compelled too after reading others. This review is for the fitness/sports enthusiast that is doing his/her due diligence in search of a good surgeon. Dr. Okamura is your guy. Dr. Okamura has done both my shoulders now. I am extremely passionate about surfing & explosive calisthenics. I trained jiu jitsu for years after my first shoulder surgery and had people trying to rip my arm off a few times a week. Being fit and strong was my entire identity.
