Campground is very nice, but the accusations from the people that work here are ridiculous. Drive up the unsmooth dusty drive and get accused of speeding. When we checked in we get the 5th degree about bringing wood in. We figured out why the campground is empty. We will not return either.
Very nice people. We were on our way south made reservations for 1 night and got there very late (9pm). Management came to office to check us in and took us to our site in the dark. Would stay here again.
We all had a fantastic time, and will be coming back again soon! The bald guy that runs the office and activities is amazing and always so friendly and helpful. He’s got a great way with the kids and actually got my super shy daughter to talk to him which is a first for her. The sewer at our site and the bathrooms were closed, but we were told this was only temporary due to the weather so we just made do. I used to have a trailer there for years. Then the campground was sold. The new owners started to invest in it. Which was nice, so we thought. They nickel and dime everything. The husband, is a nice guy. But his wife.... the authority went to her head. Just saying. Please be aware, on holiday weekend's she shuts off the water. To save her money.. I moved my trailer and I'm glad I did.
BEWARE before making your reservation for this weekend!! The following is not available this weekend: WATER, bath houses, laundry, and dump station!!....via an email that was sent to me regarding my reservation this weekend. When I inquired about a refund, I was denied and argued with while trying to convince me that it will a "great weekend for camping". I see that Oak Lake didn't bother posting this information to their own FB page nor their website.
