Northside Hospital uses third party anesthesiology services that are out of network for most health insurance plans. They don’t disclose this fact in advance and don’t include anesthesia in their surgery estimate they do provide. On the day of surgery they mention anesthesia is not included in their estimate and don’t provide an accurate estimate for anesthesia. They also don’t mention it’s out of network. I was disappointed by the way we were treated by the receptionist at Northside Hospital Center for Perinatal Medicine – Midtown. We arrived only three minutes past our appointment time and were spoken to in a rude, dismissive manner. The receptionist told my wife, “you don’t get to come in anytime you want,” in a very harsh tone. In a perinatal setting where patients are often anxious or stressed, this lack of empathy was especially upsetting. The interaction at the front desk set a negative tone before we were even seen

I was scheduled for an appointment and called to inform the office I was running late due to traffic. The receptionist I spoke with forgot to put me on mute and told someone ‘They’re not even in the car yet’. When she got back on the phone she was rude and not helpful at all. I was fine with rescheduling my appointment due to my arrival time, but the way she spoke with me on the phone and the comment she made when she thought she had me on mute was very demeaning. I walked into the clinic mind you my teenager and 6yr old were with me about to sit down in the waiting room and the young lady with the ponytail gets real excited no hello I’m sorry but excitedly yells no kids I politely tell her they were just going to have a seat in the waiting room for me and she was like No!
